Sep 28, 2022, 13:28 /Comserve / -- Following the closing of the acquisition of Meritor, Inc. last month, Cummins Inc. ( NYSE: CMI ) will be in Hanover, Germany The Meritor 17Xe electronic powertrain (ePowertrain) equipped with Cummins battery system was displayed for the first time at the IAA Transportation
Designed for 4x2 and 6x2 types of heavy duty trucks, the 17Xe can support a gross weight of 44 tons and even more in some applications. The element also features a new addition to the Cummins battery product line, the Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack.
"We are committed to bringing Cummins and Meritor's electrified powertrain solutions to market as quickly as possible," said Amy Davis, Cummins vice president and president of New Power. Moving closer to the goal of decarbonizing the industry. Cummins and Meritor are bringing together the industry’s first and most economically viable decarbonized powertrain solutions for the greater good of people and our planet.”
Meritor brings more than 100 years of experience to Cummins in driveline, mobility, braking, aftermarket and electrical powertrain solutions. The integration of Meritor's people, products and capabilities in axle and braking technology will position Cummins as a leader in integrated powertrain solutions for internal combustion engine and electric applications.
With a 100% zero-emission electronic powertrain now in production, Cummins and Meritor are working together to bring advanced decarbonized transportation solutions to the commercial vehicle market.
Cummins is integrating Meritor's electronic powertrain with battery and fuel cell electric drivetrains to meet growing market demand for decarbonization solutions. Cummins' market-leading suite of clean drivetrain options offers performance and packaging benefits for a variety of applications worldwide, benefiting the duty cycle and range of heavy and medium duty trucks and buses.
In addition to the electronic powertrain, Meritor's Power Control and Accessory System (PCAS) will also be featured at the show. PCAS is the "brain" of the electrical powertrain, responsible for controlling speed, acceleration, braking and thermal management. Through innovative software control, the optimized settings of PCAS can greatly improve performance and overall system efficiency. Its all-in-one system design also reduces package size and integration complexity.
