Sydney, New South Wales, September 03, 2020: AGL Energy, a Sydney-based energy company, has recently launched an innovative range of smart-home kits that would enable its customers to save their electricity bill by automating energy efficiency improvements in their homes.
The new kit contains various smart-home devices that allow consumers to take control of their energy bill with features like energy monitoring plugs, voice-activated lights, smart controllers for split air conditioning systems, and smart speakers. These features work in such a way that it automates the whole process and as a result, the energy consumption reduces significantly. For example, these devices allow customers to automatically turn off devices left on standby mode thereby minimizing standby power which can otherwise contribute to high energy bills. It can also set schedules/timers, turn off lights remotely, and do various other things to match their lifestyle preferences without having to raise a finger.
A feature called ‘Sensibo Sky smart controller’ introduced by AGL helps to control and monitor the split air conditioning system from anywhere using the customer’s phone location. It can automatically turn on the air conditioner before customers arrive home and turn it off when they leave. It also allows customers to monitor the temperature and humidity of their room.
Jo Egan, AGL General Manager-Product and Portfolio said that the customers can now reap the benefits of these smart devices and monitor their energy usage and save household costs. The kits are very cheap in price and range anywhere between USD 108 to USD 420.
Last year, a pilot offer of smart home kits was introduced that has now been updated in response to customer input to include more assistance with energy efficiency, in particular lighting, standby power, cooling, and heating. According to the latest annual report provided by the company, AGL reported total revenue of USD 12,160 million during FY 2020, a slight decline by (-) 9% Y-o-Y as compared to the previous year’s revenue of the same period which was USD 13,246 million. Earlier, AGL agreed to acquire the leading online energy retailer Click Energy Group, to expand its customer base and leverage its services on digital platforms. On 24th July 2020, AGL donated solar panels as an act of charity, to three Ronald McDonald Houses in an effort to reduce their power bills.
