Bloomington, USA, 11, Aug 2020 - An Indiana based sports technology startup, Blueprint Stats, has inked a deal with the District of Columbia State Athletic Association. This startup has developed a platform that helps high school sports teams in improving their game by the use of advanced video analytical systems.
Both the parties have decided to reach an agreement for the use of the video analysis services during the 2021 DCSAA State Basketball Championships. The District of Columbia State Athletic Association is responsible for organizing 31 state championship events for a total of 51 high schools that comprises of 14,500 student-athletes in the Columbian district. Clark Ray, the Executive Director of DCSAA said that they are excited to use this technology in their games which will help the coaches and will give them an opportunity to provide constructive analysis and feedback to their players.
The Bloomington based startup uses human as well as machine learning video analysis technology to produce various data sets. These data sets are then used by the team coach to improve the game. According to the CEO and founder of Blueprint Stats, Hunter Hawley, by the end of the previous season, as many as 30 teams were making the use of this technology. Across 500 basketball game films, the company recorded an estimate of 80,000 time-stamped statistical data. Like many other businesses and firms, Blueprint Stats’ user base has also been hampered as they don’t have any users currently. Earlier in July 2020, Blueprint Stats received a funding of USD 20,000 from Indianapolis-based Elevate Ventures.
With games becoming more and more competitive these days, technology comes in help and plays a big role in improving the performance of players. With the use of video analysis, teams can look up to their weaknesses and wok particularly on them. It claims to provide the most accurate data and stats in the industry with an accuracy of 99.3%. As of now, this startup is fairly new and will receive a lot of competition from other startups such as Hudl, a Lincoln-based industry leader that provides coaching tools and video analysis to sports teams.
