Brooks Automation Inc. completes acquisition of Ruro, Inc.

Feb 14, 2020, 23:30 /Comserve / -- Brooks Automation, Inc. (NASDAQ: BRKS) made the announcement recently about its acquisition of RURO, Inc., one of the companies that has been developing computer software for research as well as for pharmaceutical industries.

Brooks Automation (NASDAQ: BRKS) went public by announcing that it has completed acquiring one of the computer software developers RURO, Inc. having its operations based out of  Fredrick, Maryland and has been involved in the development of computer software, especially laboratory information management systems that can be used for research, healthcare, including pharmaceutical sectors. Brooks had acquired RURO, Inc. for a cash sum of USD 15 million, that also includes working capital and other adjustments.

RURO, Inc. has been engaged in the business of providing software solutions that involve management of workflow of labs including management of bio-sample data for several customers in various sectors such as healthcare, pharmaceutical and others. With the acquisition, Brooks would be able to enhance its offerings, including being able to manage biological sample inventories both on-site and off-site in a better way. Moreover, it would also be able to offer integration solutions to its customers, thereby increasing its distribution workflow.

The President and CEO of Brooks Automation, Inc., Steve Schwartz remarked that the company has been managing about fifty million samples for its customers and it has been placed in a position of offering information management solutions for many of their customers. He also stated that Brooks has been working with RURO, Inc. for some time now and have been able to identify that the solutions of RURO Inc. have been effective. Additionally, they have been able to determine the various challenges associated with integration of multi-laboratory workflows, apart from being able to manage distributed inventories and ensuring information security through a single solution.

With this acquisition, RURO has been included as part of Brooks Life Sciences business making it a part of its sample management operations. RURO had reported its revenues for the twelve months period ending December 31, 2019 which was about USD 5 million.
