This antibacterial and antiviral disinfectant aims to help the customers in returning to their businesses safely during the COVID-19 pandemic. D20R has no odor and is non-corrosive in nature. This water-based disinfectant is ready for use in hard surfaces, for instance, flooring, handrails, synthetic sheets, and furniture and bathroom fittings. PPG used its existing expertise in bacterial technologies to produce D20R which helped in increasing the performance against viruses.
In March 2020, PPG announced that it would contribute 80,000 masks to the health systems in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Detroit and Huntsville, New York, Ala in support of COVID-19 pandemic relief efforts. Furthermore, PPG and the PPG Foundation reported in April 2020 that they would donate USD 1.5 million to the organizations supporting immediate community relief efforts and emerging recovery needs amid the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
