Bronx, United States, Aug 11, 2020, 14:00 /Comserve / -- One of the subsidiaries of Pristine Logistics & Infraprojects Pvt. Ltd., Pristine Valley Dry Port Pvt. Ltd., announced that it has won the contract for operating as well as managing the Inland Clearance Depot (ICD) in Birgunj in Nepal.
Kathmandu, Nepal, August 10th, 2020: One of the subsidiaries of Pristine Logistics & Infraprojects Pvt. Ltd., Pristine Valley Dry Port Pvt. Ltd., announced that it has won the contract for operating as well as managing the Inland Clearance Depot (ICD) in Birgunj in Nepal.
The Inland Clearance Depot, which forms a part of the Inland Container Depot, is located at the Indo-Nepal Border in Sirsiya of Birgunj District in Nepal. The first dry port of Nepal, which was constructed in the year 2000 by the Government of Nepal, came into operation from July 16th, 2004. The dry port initially was operated by Himalayan Terminal Pvt. Ltd. (HTPL), a local counterpart of the Indian Government entity, CONCOR, upon receiving the ownership from Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Board (NITDB).
The ICD was earlier operated by government entities entirely throughout the years. The Director of NITDB stated in his comments that it was for the first time that the management of ICD has decided to transfer the operations to a fully private venture. On 14th of July, NITDB announced that five companies, namely, Apana-Highway Jagdamba JV, International Cargo Terminals and Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., Adani Logistics Ltd., Container Corporation of India Ltd. And Pristine Mega Logistics Park Pvt. Ltd. Shared their interests and financial proposals for the operation and management of the ICD at Birgunj. Amongst all other bidding amount, Pristine Valley had the highest proposed leasehold fee of NPR 3.33 billion for the period of five years.
The Birgunj ICD handles more than 50% of the containerised traffic of Nepal and it is the only rail linked terminal in the nation. With its operations being handed over to Pristine Valley, NITDB expects an increase in trade in the nation. Pristine Valley took over the operations of the dryport at a special function that was organised in the premises of ICD.
