Raleigh, North Carolina, September 30, 2020: Global open source solutions provider Red Hat, Inc., announced on Monday (i.e. September 28, 2020) that it has collaborated with Samsung to provide 5G based network solutions for the service providers. The 5g solution would be built on Red Hat OpenShift which is considered as the industry’s most wide-range enterprise Kubernetes platform.
Through this partnership, Red Hat aims to make 5G network a reality across various applications such as 5G core, IoT, machine learning, edge computing, and others. According to the agreement, both the companies would utilize the hybrid cloud portfolio of Red Hat including the Red Hat OpenShift platform, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat OpenStack Platform, and Red Hat OpenShift Container Storage, along with the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform. Furthermore, this partnership will also make use of 5G vRAN, vCore, management & analytics, and MEC from Samsung to enable the service providers expand their 5G-based use cases, such as the edge computing technology, to positively impact the consumer experience.
Wonil Roh, the Senior-Vice President cum Head of Product Strategy and Networks Business at Samsung Electronics, is excited to work with Red Hat. He believes that the partnership would help Samsung to provide a highly efficient 5G solution and reliable network experience to its customers via integration with Red Hat’s proven hybrid cloud solutions.
Earlier this month, Red Hat collaborated with Schlumberger and IBM to leverage digital innovation across the oil and gas industry via the Red Hat’s exclusive OpenShift platform. The landmark agreement extended access to the cognitive E&P environment of DELFI to meet the implementation preferences of customers.
According to the latest financial report, Red Hat generated consolidated revenue of USD 934 million during Q1 FY20 as compared to the previous year’s revenue of the same period which was USD 814 million, a significant growth by 15% Y-o-Y. Additionally, the net income (GAAP) reported during Q1 FY20 also increased by 25% Y-o-Y to USD 141 million as compared to the previous year of the same period which was USD 113 million.
